If staying fit were a test how well would you score. The average person probably would not do as well as they think. There are many steps to consider when you decide that staying fit is important to you.
1) If you exercise regularly you can lower the risk of disease. There are many diseases that are dependent on exercise to help your body lower the risk of an illness that could be life threatening. One example is heart disease. When you exercise on a regular basis you are making sure your heart is getting the proper amount of blood and oxygen flow. By keeping these two very important functions of the heart functioning at the best level possible, the risk of a heart attack is lessened.
2) Eating healthy is another way you can stay fit which in turn will prevent illness. The more fatty foods you eat, the harder your heart and other major organs have to work. When you put undue stress on your heart over and over, it does not take long to wear it out.
3) Not only should you eat healthy to keep your heart healthy but you should have your cholesterol levels checked on a regular basis. When cholesterol builds up it leaves fatty deposits which can cause narrowed arteries leading to the heart.
4) Aerobics are one way you can exercise to keep your heart healthier. This type of exercise increase the heart rate for a period of time. The fact that they involve major muscle groups helps to keep the heart in working order. By not having to work so hard the heart stays healthier. That is what aerobics are all about. They measure how your heart is supplying the needed nutrients to the other major organs in your body.
5) Stopping smoking is one of the ways you can help to prevent further heart disease. This is essential to someone if they have already had a heart attack. The risk is cut down by the cessation of smoking over the next 5 years for the chance of having another heart attack. If you have had a by-pass, the risk of the by-pass failing is cut down over the next 10 to 15 years.
Take care of your heart so it will take care of you. The many things that you can do are all important to the health of your heart.
