The following are five helpful tips that will help you to boost up your immune system so you can prevent and fight off those miserable colds.

Tip #1 - Eat Plenty of Fruits and Vegetables - First of all, it’s important that you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables every day. Make sure that these foods include foods that have plenty of Vitamin C and Vitamin A in them, including red berries, green peppers, blueberries, mangoes, citrus fruits, and green leafy vegetables.

Tip #2 - Avoid Too Many Stimulants - Avoiding too many stimulants is important as well if you plan on keeping your immune system healthy to prevent colds. When your immune system is not quite what it needs to be, you should not drink alcohol or coffee, which act as stimulants. They can actually cause your body to be under more stress, depressing the immune system even more.

Tip #3 - Get Plenty of Water - Plenty of water is also imperative for a healthy immune system. You should have a minimum of eight glasses of water every single day. It can help you to have a nice bottle of water along with you everywhere you go so you get all that water in that your body really needs. The more water your body has, the better it is equipped to flush out toxins and other things in your body that can cause it harm, so this is so important.

Tip #4 - Avoid Fatty and Sugary Foods - Fatty and sugary foods, including products with white flour, dairy, and even eating too many bananas can actually lead to mucous formation in your body. This is the last thing you need if you are trying to avoid a cold, so do your best to limit these types of foods.

Tip #5 - Take Herbal and Vitamin Supplements - Taking herbal and vitamin supplements is very important as well if you are trying to promote a health immune system that will successfully fight off colds. One Vitamin you’ll want to take is Vitamin C, and some other great supplements that can help improve your immune system include olive leaf extract, cat’s claw, and Echinacea.
