We’ve spoke about it many times. Summer time is a great time to shed some pounds but it always seems to be a fight. I’m here to remind you that losing weight doesn’t have to be a constant battle for you. There are three simple changes that you can make to your current summer time eating habits that can have an immediate effect on how much weight you can lose over the next couple of months. By implementing a few of these simple changes you can literally start dropping 2-3 pounds a week. Many of us plateau at some point during weight loss, but I’ve got a few tips that will help you stay on track and maximize your weight loss.

Just remember - dieting is a lifestyle commitment. Changing your eating habits and regular exercise is the only way to keep those unwanted pounds off forever!

TIP 1: Drink 6-8 Glasses of Water

You’ve probably heard this before, drink at least 6 glasses of water a day, well it’s true most of us drink soda, milk, juice, but many of us do not drink near enough the amount of water our body needs to stay healthy. When you don’t drink enough water, your body tends to hold onto extra water because it’s not sure if it’s going to get the water it needs to replenish what it loses anytime soon. Your body also uses water to fuel chemical processes and flush out toxins. Be sure to drink at least six to eight 8 oz glasses of water each day, try it for a week and you’ll not only feel better but you’ll start dropping water weight in the first week or two.

TIP 2: Eat smaller meals more often

Snack, snack, snack. Making this change to your routine will change how fast your metabolism burns the calories you are eating. If you’re eating 4-5 smaller meals then your natural metabolism will speed up. How does this help with your weight loss plan? Well, the food you eat won’t hang around you as long, and have less chance of becoming fat. If you can convince your body to burn more calories per day (higher metabolism rate) but you eat the same amount of calories per day - you will lose weight!

TIP 3: Rotate what you’re eating

This is one you probably have not heard before - don’t always eat the same thing every day. Try changing it up daily so one morning you’re getting protein, another some fruits, and the next day carbohydrates. The objective here is to not have the same type of food at the same meal each day. This again is targeting your metabolism. A changing meal routine doesn’t let your body fall into a routine for how it metabolizes the calories. Your body’s metabolism will burn off calories fast since it’s always changing.

A final tip. If you’re searching for a good source of protein - protein helps your body’s metabolism run efficiently and helps build muscle from your summer time activities - I recommend you take a look at a blended protein with the appropriate amino acids to assist your body in absorbing the protein (without the amino acids, excess protein will be passed through your system and you’ll just wind up flushing your money down the drain).

For a blended protein with an amino acid activator, see:

And have a great, high energy, and active summer! It’s the easiest time of the year to get your exercise while having FUN!
